Location: Williamsburg, VA

Soliant Education is seeking two passionate and qualified ASL Interpreters to provide support to students in a special education setting for the uping school year. These positions are perfect for individuals looking to pursue or plete the EIPA or RID certification. You will play a key role in interpreting and providing additional support to ensure students educational success.

Position 1: ASL Interpreter for Middle School Student

Position Type: Full-time, Special Assignment
Student Profile:

  • The student has a hearing impairment but is not deaf.
  • The student is still learning ASL and does not frequently sign back.
  • Responsibilities include interpreting and offering additional support, such as prompting and redirection, to help the student engage in class activities.

Qualifications:

  • Fully certified ASL Interpreter preferred.
  • Strong ASL background with intent to pursue full certification is also acceptable.
Position 2: ASL Interpreter for Kindergarten Student

Position Type: Full-time
Student Profile:

  • The student is deaf and uses ASL at home.
  • The student has a strong foundation in ASL and a desire to continue developing their skills.
  • Primary duties will focus on interpreting and supporting the student with understanding directions and classroom engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Fully certified ASL Interpreter preferred.
  • Strong ASL background and working toward certification or paraprofessional experience is acceptable.
Responsibilities for Both Positions:
  • Provide accurate and clear interpretation between students and educators in various academic settings.
  • Support student engagement in class activities, ensuring they can participate fully.
  • Assist in understanding directions and classroom materials.
  • Collaborate with educators to adjust the support based on the students needs.
  • Offer additional support to help the students thrive in the school environment.
Requirements:
  • ASL proficiency (strong background or certification preferred).
  • Passion for working with students in a special education setting.
  • Willingness to support students with a variety of needs.
  • Strong munication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse classroom dynamics.
