Job Description

A large steel fabricator of vessels and heat exchangers has an immediate opening for a vessel welder. Fitters will take blueprints and drawings to layout and fit up fabricated parts to vessel shell. Once the vessel is laid out, the welder will weld using MIG and Flux Core on carbon steel ranging from 1/4" to 1" thick. Additionally, you may weld on the tube ends for the heat exchangers using TIG welding on small diameter tubing, all thin gauge stainless steel. Successful candidates will pass welding inspections with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Read blueprints, isometric drawings (ISOs), piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P&ID's), or schematics (pipe/fabrication).
  • Layout and fit up fabricated parts to the vessel shell.
  • Perform MIG and Flux Core welding on thicker materials.
  • Weld a saddle both uphill and downhill.
  • Execute TIG welding on small diameter thin gauge tubing.
  • Pass welding inspections with minimal oversight.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, ISOs, P&ID's, or schematics.
  • 5+ years of fabrication experience.
  • 3+ years of vessel welding experience or tube welding on small diameter thin gauge tubing.
  • Proficiency in MIG and Flux Core welding.
  • Experience in TIG welding.
  • Capability to weld a saddle both uphill and downhill.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Vessel fitting or tube fitting experience.
  • Experience in Sub Arc welding.
  • Ability to perform saddle fits and miter bends.
  • Proficiency in using industrial hand tools to layout and fit up material.
  • Bilingual - English and Spanish.
Work Environment

The work environment is a medium-sized vessel shop with an open-air, non-air-conditioned setup. Employees work in and around large vessels and heat exchangers with a strong emphasis on safety, honesty, and integrity.
