Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Downey, California

Position Overview:

Downey Unified School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. The Speech-Language Pathologist will be responsible for providing diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions for students with communication disorders. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting student success and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' communication goals within the classroom and educational environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and other team meetings to review student progress and develop goals.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • California state license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • California Educator Credential in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility to obtain.
  • Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
  • State Licensure: Must hold a valid Speech-Language Pathology license issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
  • Professional Certification: Must possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Educator Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a California Educator Credential in Speech-Language Pathology.
