About the Position:
Soliant Education is looking for an experienced and passionate School Psychologist to join a school district in the Spring Valley, DC area for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time, onsite contract position will serve both General Education (Gen Ed) and Special Education (SPED) students. The role will primarily focus on providing counseling and therapy services to students, both individually and in small groups, with no requirements for evaluations or assessments. You will work closely with a SPED caseload of approximately 30 students, while also providing support to Gen Ed students referred for counseling services based on their emotional, behavioral, and social needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group counseling sessions to Gen Ed and SPED students, addressing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
  • Manage a SPED caseload of approximately 30 students, offering therapeutic interventions to support their academic, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Provide counseling for Gen Ed students referred for issues such as anxiety, depression, peer relationships, and emotional regulation.
  • Implement therapy interventions to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, and positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students.
  • Maintain confidential records of all counseling sessions and student progress.
  • Attend staff meetings and provide input on behavioral interventions and emotional support strategies.
  • Consult with teachers and administrators on strategies to address mental health and behavioral concerns across the school population.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and offer behavioral management strategies to address challenging behaviors.

Requirements:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in School Psychology.
  • Valid certification as a School Psychologist in Washington, D.C. (or the ability to obtain certification before the start date).
  • Previous experience working with both General Education and Special Education students is preferred.
  • Strong background in providing individual and group counseling, with experience addressing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
  • Understanding of SPED caseloads, IEPs, and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Excellent munication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a school setting.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques is a plus.
