Job Description

As an Accessioner, you will be responsible for handling all specimens and lab samples in a safe and efficient manner. You will review specimen packages for complete information and route/deliver specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of lab results.

Responsibilities

• Handle all specimens and lab samples safely and efficiently, including blood, saliva, urine, stool, etc.
• Review specimen packages for complete information.
• Route and deliver specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab.
• Scan or manually enter specimen and patient information into the internal system, Touch.
• Sort samples into specific bins based on category and/or lab code.
• Maintain an inclusive environment through persistent self-reflection.
• Build a culture of care, engagement, and recognition with clear outcomes.

• Previous lab experience and/or science experience is preferred but not required

Work Environment

This role is based in a very large diagnostic lab space, serving as the central lab for all patient samples in Oregon and SW Washington. The lab operates in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. The busiest shift is during the night as samples need to be processed within a 24-48 hour window. The lab is equipped with advanced technologies and follows stringent protocols to ensure accuracy and safety.
