Laboratory Technician

Overview:
The candidate will work under the supervision of technical personnel to support general laboratory operations and routine tasks. This role primarily focuses on tissue culture, plant embryo isolation, and culture maintenance. The ideal candidate should be experienced in working in a sterile environment, handling plant cultures, and identifying deviations from protocols to initiate corrective actions. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of tissue culture media and manage materials.
- Isolate explants from seedling leaves and assist in transformation experiments.
- Cultivate and subculture transformed tissue in specific media, both gel and liquid suspensions.
- Support vector construction, plasmid bulking, bacterial culture initiation, and protein expression.
- Use microscopes and scanners to image tissues and track experiments through databases.
- Record and monitor data, ensuring the smooth execution of processes.
- Uphold Client's core values and ensure compliance with laboratory best practices.
Qualifications:
- Previous laboratory experience, particularly in a sterile environment.
- Desired experience in maintaining cultures and performing plant embryo rescue.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address deviations from standard protocols.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage precise tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet or other data analysis tools is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biomedical engineering, biology, or a similar field is preferred.
