Position Overview:
Soliant Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite position in Farmington, CT for the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves supporting 4th and 5th-grade students, with a caseload of up to 20 students. The position requires push-in services and some pull-out support for the SPIRE reading programa highly structured and scripted reading intervention that is easy to implement. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a direct impact on students' learning while working within a supportive and collaborative educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide special education services to 4th and 5th-grade students, including push-in and pull-out support.
  • Deliver SPIRE scripted reading lessons, helping students improve their literacy skills in a structured, easy-to-follow format.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students on your caseload.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of students.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, adjusting interventions and teaching methods as needed.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to support students' academic growth.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and work with families to ensure appropriate services and accommodations are in place.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters social and emotional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding special education services and assessments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education (or related field).
  • Valid Special Education certification for the state of Connecticut.
  • Experience teaching special education, particularly with elementary-aged students, is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of SPIRE reading program or willingness to learn and implement it.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers, parents, and other school staff.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for working with students who have diverse learning needs and making a positive impact in their educational journey.
