Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Plan, organize, and maintain all school lawns, athletic fields, playground equipment and exterior facilities as required to meet departmental responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification
- Ability to read and understand verbal instructions in English
- Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited Institution preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of basic techniques of minor repairs and grounds maintenance
- Ability to operate equipment associated with grounds maintenance
- Properly handle grounds supplies
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to properly operate and maintain a tractor and associated equipment preferred
Minimum Experience:
- 1-year experience in grounds maintenance, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Follow all AISD safety procedures as covered in AISD safety handbook
- Abide by all AISD policies and procedures as outlined in AISD auxiliary employee handbook
- Assume responsibility for safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools and equipment
- Assume responsibility for personal time card
- Maintain preventive maintenance program to ensure health and safety of students and staff
- Follow applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- Maintain department schedules
- Explain work requirements, methods and procedures
- Interaction with other departments
- Maintain neat and clean school grounds and exterior facilities
- Follow specific duties as required
- Requisition supplies
- Maintain daily and special records
- Maintain effective and positive public relations with customers and fellow employees
- Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
- Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as necessary to maintain function of District facilities
- Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor within your line of authority
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Tractor and associated attachments
- Uses mower, edger, cord trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, tiller, sod cutter, electric drill, electric saw and hand tools.

- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Interprets policy, procedures, and data
- Coordinates district functions
- Maintains emotion control under stress
- Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Extended sitting, strenuous walking, standing, occasional climbing, carrying of moderate weight, occasional heavy lifting.
- Maintain neat, clean and safe exterior facilities and grounds.
- Will work in, under, around, and outside of all AISD facilities, will be exposed to all outside conditions found in this region of Texas, exposure to dust, chemicals, and other materials and slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
- Normal work hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. Work hours may be adjusted to meet district needs.
