Job Summary:
The School-Based Social Worker will provide essential support services to students, families, and school staff to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that may impact academic performance. The ideal candidate will advocate for students' well-being, collaborate with educators and administrators, and connect families with resources to promote positive outes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct counseling services to students individually and in groups.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies to address social and emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create and maintain supportive learning environments.
- Conduct assessments to identify students needs and develop individualized service plans.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and munity agencies to coordinate services and resources.
- Assist in crisis intervention, providing support during emergencies, and helping to establish safety plans when necessary.
- Advocate for students rights and ensure access to educational opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and follow all ethical and legal guidelines for confidentiality.
- Conduct home visits when needed to engage with families and understand their needs better.
- Lead and participate in professional development and training sessions for school staff.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure as a School Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a school or munity setting.
- Knowledge of mental health, behavioral interventions, and crisis management.
- Strong munication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural environment, demonstrating cultural petence.
