Job DescriptionJob Description

We are in the process of identifying a skilled Palo Alto Network Engineer for a short-term contract to assist an international client with leading their migration to Palo Alto SD-WAN infrastructure from their legacy WAN infrastructure to allow for more dynamic traffic routing and application optimization across multiple network connections, essentially providing a more flexible and efficient wide area network management system.


This role is fully remote and will be largely working EST hours. Flexibility on hours should be expected though given the international scope of the role, team members and stakeholders.


For the project you will be leading multiple initiatives hands on:


  • Review and optimization of the client's firewall rules
  • Implementation of SD-WAN technology for 50 sites for the organization
  • Help on migrating the client's firewalls to newer hardware


1. Technical Skills

  • Networking Knowledge: In-depth understanding of networking concepts, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and TCP/IP.
  • SD-WAN Technologies: Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies, especially Prisma SD-WAN (formerly CloudGenix), and its features like application visibility, traffic steering, and policy management.
  • Cloud Networking: Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly in relation to network integration and management.
  • Security Protocols: Knowledge of network security protocols and practices, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, and secure access methods.

2. Experience

  • Implementation Experience: Hands-on experience in deploying and configuring SD-WAN solutions, particularly with Prisma SD-WAN.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing end-to-end network projects, from requirements gathering to implementation and support.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, ensuring optimal performance of the SD-WAN solution.

3. Certifications

  • Relevant networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or specific Prisma SD-WAN certifications).
  • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) may be advantageous.

4. Soft Skills

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex network issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes as they evolve.

5. Educational Background

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred.

6. Work Environment

  • Experience in working in fast-paced environments or organizations undergoing digital transformation is a plus.

7. Additional Knowledge

  • Familiarity with other networking technologies and vendors (like Cisco, Juniper, etc.) can be beneficial.
  • Understanding of WAN optimization techniques and tools.
