Sr. Accountant

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the local government sector located in Compton, California. As a Sr. Accountant, your role will involve handling various accounting tasks, including the processing of journal entries and accruals, fixed assets accounting, grant reporting, and ad hoc analysis. This position offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities
• Accurately prepare and process journal entries and accruals.
• Handle fixed assets accounting with precision and efficiency.
• Conduct grant reporting in accordance with local government standards.
• Perform ad hoc analysis as needed to support financial decision-making.
• Respond promptly and accurately to auditor inquiries.
• Prepare necessary audit schedules and pull schedules from the PBC list.
• Maintain up-to-date account and bank reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in line with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all account and bank reconciliations are accurate and timely.
• Actively participate in the month-end close cycle.• Must have a strong understanding of account reconciliation
• Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation is required
• Experience with bank reconciliations is necessary
• Must be capable of effectively managing a general ledger
• Ability to prepare and adjust journal entries is expected
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Experience in month end close activities is necessary
• Knowledge of grant accounting in a local government context is preferred
• Ability to prepare audit PBC lists is expected
• Experience in creating audit schedules is necessary
• Must be capable of responding to audit requests in a timely manner
• Experience with fixed assets accounting is required
