Job DescriptionJob DescriptionABR is recruiting a Sheetfed Press Operator for a company in Sun Prairie, WI.

Sheetfed press operators are responsible for monitoring print quality and adjusting machinery as necessary to meet company standards. They are in charge of a printing crew, perform regular quality checks and maintain consistency of work from the printer.

Pay: $25 / hour
Shift: 6am-6pm, actual days to be determined.

Job Description of the Press Operator:
  • Instruct and manager printing crew
  • General Administrative duties and tacking of documentation
  • Read and understand the job ticket, layout sheet and other specifications.
  • Enter job order tracking information.
  • General set up and preferences of a sheetfed printer
  • Prep press for potential issues:
    • Ensure correct / enough paper stock is used.
    • Makes sure feeder is setup properly.
    • Check water system conductivity, pH, and temperature; log the information.
    • Check ink supply.
    • Make sure delivery is setup correctly.
  • Ability to operate sheetfed press, including
    • Fine tune register.
    • Get color to match proof or match product to customer expectations.
    • Pull customer copies.
    • Monitor quality of product through the run.
    • Pull press pulls throughout the run.
    • When job is nearing completion, prepare for the next job:
    • Collect end of job information.
    • Make needed copies and file job folder.
    • Turn in job ticket and proper paperwork.
    • Help wash up the press.
  • Have a good understanding of the complete press line and crew responsibilities.
  • Perform and participate in all other press positions when needed.
  • Perform administrative duties and communicate with crew.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when working with a customer, supplier and fellow associates.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • One to two years of previous experience with KBA Sheetfed press or web printing preferable.
  • Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of the degree.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Word processing knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no instruction.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution abilities.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances.
  • Language skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret various types of correspondence.   Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and employees.  Ability to effectively present information to customers and management.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.  Basic accounting and financial knowledge.  Ability to read dimensions with a scale and perform calculations of measurements in both fraction and decimal format.  Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice versa.
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The sheetfed operator is a physically active position and would be standing or walking the majority of the time.  They are expected to be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
