Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Location: Remote (Must be located in Alabama)
Job Type: Full-Time School Year Contract
Pay: $32/Hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students via virtual platforms.
  • Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and 504 plans in collaboration with students, parents, and school teams.
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance learning experiences.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing feedback and adjustments to instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive learning environment.
  • Provide guidance and training to parents and caregivers on how to support their childs learning at home.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student performance and communication.
  • Stay updated on best practices, new technologies, and legal requirements related to visual impairment education.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or related field in Alabama.
  • Specialized training or certification in teaching visually impaired students (e.g., TVI certification).
  • Proven experience working with visually impaired students, including knowledge of braille and assistive technologies.
  • Proficiency with virtual teaching tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
