Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team, responsible for machining parts for the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. The role requires precision and attention to detail, working with tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will have the ability to edit programs, select proper tooling, understand Fanuc controls, read blueprints, and use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. Additionally, the CNC Machinist must be able to zero out the X-Y and Z axis before starting a new job and perform tool touch-offs to set the proper tooling height from the XYZ axis. Our company specializes in machining large parts for the auto and aerospace industries.

Responsibilities
  • Edit CNC programs and select appropriate tooling for machining parts.
  • Understand and operate Fanuc controls effectively.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers for precision measurement.
  • Zero out the X-Y and Z axis before starting a new job.
  • Perform tool touch-offs to set proper tooling height from the XYZ axis.
  • Machine parts for the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries with tight tolerances.
Essential Skills
  • CNC machining.
  • Proficiency in programming using Vizi, Work NC, or Mastercam.
  • Experience with Fanuc controls or other programming controllers.
  • Ability to zero out the X-Y and Z axis.
  • Proficient in using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with programming for 3D and 4-axis machining.
  • Familiarity with large equipment and overhead crane operations.
  • Hi-lo experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires working the night shift from 3:30 pm to 1:30 am, Sunday (8 pm-6 am) to Wednesday, or Tuesday to Friday. Employees can pick up extra shifts if they desire. The work environment is a machine shop with exposure to grease and dirt. The facility includes large equipment, and experience with overhead cranes and hi-los is beneficial.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayland, Michigan.
