Job Title:Work From Home K-12 School Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Location: Fully Remote (Alabama, United States)
Position Type: Full-time, Contract (2024-2025 School Year)
Job Description: We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to fill vacancies across Alabamafor the upcoming school year. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering specialized instruction and support services to students with visual impairments, ensuring their access to educational content and promoting independence in learning. This position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to workanywhere within the state of Alabama.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments, in collaboration with other members of the educational team.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, as well as specialized skills such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology.
  • Adapt instructional materials and techniques to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and related service providers to support student learning and development.
  • Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in the field of visual impairment education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Alabama teaching certification in Special Education or Visual Impairment (or eligibility for certification).
  • Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, preferably in K-12 education.
  • Knowledge of braille literacy, adaptive technology, and other specialized instructional techniques for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time in a remote work environment.
