Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Collections Specialist to join our team in TONAWANDA, New York. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and maintaining a portfolio of 400-550 accounts, conducting regular follow-up with clients, and contributing to various office functions. This role is pivotal in the Financial Services industry, and you will be directly involved in maintaining detail-oriented relationships within the team, the department, and the company.

Responsibilities:

• Take charge of a collection desk encompassing 400-550 accounts on an average basis.
• Communicate directly with clients about the status of their accounts, either verbally or in writing.
• Undertake the collection of accounts assigned to you.
• Perform skip tracing on individual claims as per the situation.
• Refer and report accounts to counsel when necessary.
• Close accounts and report them as necessary, ensuring to communicate with new clients before closure.
• Contribute to monthly department meetings, occasionally presenting as required.
• Participate in various office functions, projects, and contests as and when needed.
• Engage in educational programs, classes, seminars, online training, etc., as required.
• Foster detail-oriented working relationships within your collection team, the department, and the company.
• Collaborate with the Team Leader and General Collection Manager on process review for the improvement of the department, company, and our clients.
• Conduct regular follow-up with clients via phone, email, and personal visits.
• Continuously develop and nurture client relationships.
• Lead by example in terms of work ethic, meeting and exceeding standards, and detail-oriented behavior.• Applicant must possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Prior experience in a similar role within the financial services industry is necessary.
• Exceptional knowledge in B2B collections is mandatory.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills are required.
• Proficiency in using financial software and databases is expected.
• Ability to interpret and analyze financial data is a must.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g. FDCPA) is desired.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards are expected.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is necessary.
• Proven track record of achieving collection targets is preferred.
• Bilingual or multilingual candidates may have an advantage.
