New Grad RN Residency Program

Location: Charleston, SC

Unit: (Med/Surg Units)

Visa: No Visa Sponsorship

Program Overview: We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for new graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) through our StaRN Residency Program. This year-long program provides a paid, intensive training experience designed to help new graduates gain acute care experience. The program begins with a 10-16 week classroom and preceptorship phase, followed by ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • Current South Carolina RN license or Multi-state Compact RN license (or ability to obtain)
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school within the past year
  • Two-year full-time commitment to the hospital (monetary responsibility if commitment is not fulfilled)
  • Self-motivated, strong communication skills, and excellent attendance

Units Hiring StaRN Residents:

  • Medical/Surgical Units (Oncology, Orthopedics, Trauma, Neurology, General)
  • Emergency Services (limited openings)

Program Structure:

  • Phase 1: StaRN Training (5-8 Weeks)

    • Instructor-led classroom training
    • State-of-the-art simulations and debriefs
    • Certifications and charting systems training
    • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week (8-hour days)

  • Phase 2: StaRN Clinical Preceptorship (7-8 Weeks)

    • Conducted on-site at the hospital
    • One-on-one preceptorship with a dedicated mentor
    • Regular development meetings with preceptor and Director
    • Customized coaching and onboarding reports
    • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week

  • Phase 3: HCA Residency Program (Remaining Year)

    • Transition to a full-time role at the hospital
    • Ongoing professional development with monthly mentor meetings
    • Complete an evidence-based capstone project

Compensation:

  • Starting Salary: $29.62/hour
  • Shift Differentials: $4.00 for Nights, $3.00 for Weekends
  • Sign-On Bonus and Relocation Assistance (case-by-case)

Program Length:

  • Combo - Med/Surg/Telemetry Track: 12 weeks (5 weeks didactic + 7 weeks preceptorship)
  • Critical Care Track: 13 weeks (6 weeks didactic + 7 weeks preceptorship)
  • ED Standalone Track: 14 weeks (7 weeks didactic + 7 weeks preceptorship)
