Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented janitors to join our team. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in various campus buildings, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all occupants.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors using various tools and equipment.
• Use hand and power scrubbing and polishing equipment, vacuum cleaners, commercial buffers, brooms, dust brushes, dust pans, wet and dry mops, and other cleaning materials.
• Clean designated areas with the required cleaners and disinfecting solutions.
• Clean walls, windows, window blinds and shades, ceilings, and doors, occasionally working from ladders or scaffolding.
• Replenish towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and other supplies as required.
• Inspect the exterior and interior of the building for service issues and report damages, malfunctions, and needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Remove trash from assigned areas, move furniture, equipment, supplies, and recyclable materials.
• Maintain separation of recyclable materials and transport biohazard containers to designated areas.
• Remove snow, ice, and debris from building entrances, sidewalks, and other areas as required.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Essential Skills

• Experience in janitorial, cleaning, and housekeeping.
• Ability to sanitize, disinfect, dust, sweep, and clean carpets.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read labels on cleaning and detergent materials and disinfecting solutions.
• Ability to operate large powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning, and buffing equipment.
• Ability to interact and work respectfully and courteously with faculty, students, staff, and visitors.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move about campus on a continuous basis.
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs regularly to clean them.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Driver's License.

Work Environment

You will work in various campus buildings with shifts from 8am to 4:30pm, including Saturdays and Sundays, with two consecutive days off during the week. Spanish speakers are welcome.
