Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role involves assisting in the execution of prescribed treatment programs and adhering to state regulations and facility policies. The PTA plays an essential role in ensuring high-quality patient care by carrying out treatment interventions, documenting patient progress, maintaining communication with healthcare teams, and ensuring a safe, clean treatment environment.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists with treatment programs.
  • Document patient progress accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members.
  • Complete required training and continuing education.
  • Meet productivity standards and manage time efficiently.
  • Participate in meetings and special projects.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting & Mobility: Ability to lift patients (up to 50 lbs.) using proper techniques. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching during the course of the workday.
  • Visual & Auditory Acuity: Sufficient visual and auditory capabilities to accurately maintain records, understand verbal instructions, and provide effective patient care.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Adequate fine motor skills to manage patient scheduling, equipment preparation, and treatment tasks.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to participate in extended physical activities, including sustained walking and lifting, for extended periods as required by the job.

 

Required Credentials:

  • Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education) or an equivalent international program.
  • Current, valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
