RF Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an RF Engineer for a leading wireless technology company. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering remote work with an expectation to work EST hours.

Position Overview:
The RF Engineer will be responsible for the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of wireless networks, including small cell, oDAS, and iDAS designs. The RF Engineer will work closely with field engineers and other stakeholders to ensure network design and performance meet the companyâ?™s high standards. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for wireless network technology and the ability to apply technical expertise in a collaborative, solution-oriented environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Create and optimize CIQ documents for LTE and 5G network deployments, ensuring comprehensive and accurate documentation.
  • Work closely with RF and field engineers to verify the precision of CIQ data, facilitating seamless integration of network components.
  • Conduct quality checks on CIQ data, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve CIQ-related issues during network design and deployment.
  • Create oDAS, small cell network, and iDAS designs using tools like Atoll and iBwave.
  • Conduct site surveys, CW tests, and analyze data, preparing documentation for customer approval.
  • Generate and provide Bill of Materials (BOMs) for proposals and contracted projects.
  • Configure, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize DAS and small cell networks.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including sales, construction, project delivery, and operations, to support DAS projects.
  • Support national and local RF teams with trials for new technologies.
  • Conduct field work, measurements, and analyze drive/walk test data from new network deployments.
  • Use measurement tools (spectrum analyzer, power meter, pilot scanner) to confirm system designs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of RF engineering experience within the telecommunications industry.
  • Proficient in wireless network design for small cells, DRAN, oDAS, iDAS, using Atoll and iBwave.
  • Strong data analytical skills with experience in Power BI, Smartsheet, SQL, MapInfo, and advanced Excel.
  • Experience in RF and fiber testing, including antenna PIM and sweep results for site acceptance.
  • Solid knowledge of 4G, 5G, NR, VOLTE, VONR, RF propagation, and antenna theory.
  • OEM Certified Engineer for installation and commissioning (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to perform link budgets, calculate noise figures, intermodulation products, and use test equipment/software effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative thinker who thrives under pressure and can solve complex problems efficiently.
  • Ability to stay organized and work systematically on multiple projects.

Education:

  • Bachelorâ?™s or Masterâ?™s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers a competitive compensation package, starting at $30/hour (with potential for conversion to full-time). In addition to competitive pay, the role includes the opportunity to work remotely, with all necessary equipment provided. The contract is expected to last 3-6 months before transitioning to a permanent role, depending on business needs.

Location:
This is a remote position, but candidates must be available to work EST hours.
