Full-Time Special Education Teacher
Location: James Island, SC
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are currently looking for a Full-Time Special Education Teacher to join our team in James Island, SC. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create, execute, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities in line with state and federal guidelines.
  • Adapt Curriculum: Modify general education curriculum to meet the specific needs of students with learning, behavioral, or physical disabilities.
  • Instructional Support: Provide direct instruction to students through small group, one-on-one, and co-teaching models.
  • Assess and Track Progress: Continuously assess student progress on IEP goals and adjust teaching methods to ensure student success.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with general education teachers, administrators, and other specialists to support students learning goals.
  • Behavior Management: Implement effective classroom management techniques and strategies to promote positive behavior and a supportive learning environment.
  • Family Communication: Regularly communicate with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and development.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with special education practices, attend required meetings, and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and other essential information.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education (Masters degree preferred).
  • Certification: Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience: Experience in writing and implementing IEPs, working with students with disabilities, and differentiating instruction.
  • Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices for working with students with diverse needs.
