School Counselor | Jenks, OK| 2024/2025

Full time split their time between 5th and 6th grade (two sites)

Working strictly with SPED students

Need to write behavior goals and put them on the students IEPs edplan is IEP platform

Also need to be able to conduct a FBA and write BIPs

Caseload of around 25-50

Must be licensed in OK (LPC License)

Onsite

Job responsibilities:

Provide Individual and Group Counseling
Offer one-on-one or group sessions to help students address personal, social, emotional, and academic concerns. Support students in managing stress, anxiety, relationships, and other challenges.

Develop and Implement School-Wide Programs
Design and lead programs focused on mental health awareness, bullying prevention, peer relationships, and academic success. These initiatives promote a positive school climate and well-being for all students.

Support Academic Achievement
Assist students in setting academic goals, developing study skills, and managing time effectively. Work closely with teachers to identify students who need additional academic support or interventions.

Career and College Guidance
Help students explore career paths, understand post-secondary education options, and prepare for the college application process, including advice on financial aid, scholarships, and entrance requirements.

Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution
Provide immediate support during student crises, whether related to mental health, family issues, or peer conflicts. Mediate disputes and offer strategies for conflict resolution to promote healthy relationships.

Monitor Student Progress and Well-Being
Track the academic, emotional, and behavioral progress of students. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.

Facilitate Communication Between Home and School
Act as a bridge between parents, teachers, and students by facilitating open communication. Ensure that families are informed about their childs progress, any concerns, and available resources.

Implement Behavioral and Emotional Support Plans
Work with students, teachers, and administrators to create individualized plans that address behavioral and emotional challenges. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in managing these issues.

Promote a Safe and Inclusive School Environment
Advocate for diversity, inclusion, and safety by developing programs that foster respect and empathy among students. Address issues related to discrimination, bullying, and harassment.

Participate in Professional Development
Stay updated on best practices in counseling, mental health, and educational guidance by attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions to better support students needs.
