We are seeking a lab assistant to join our Biorational Research Center team and contribute to the efficient operations of research activities within this group. The lab assistant will maintain a lab supply stock room, manage lab waste, support autoclave and dishwasher services, prepare media and check in/deliver packages to lab staff. The lab assistant will work as part of a team to maintain an expanding research operation.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all work in strict compliance with applicable safety requirements, containment requirements, standard operating practices, and/or guidelines.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance duties including sanitization and sterilization of glassware, consumables, and labware.
  • Prepare liquid and solid media for downstream applications within research teams.
  • Responsible for digital inventory system, purchase and stocking of supplies including media, enzymes, chemicals, consumables, and all other lab materials in routine use.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding and experience executing lab work using aseptic or sterile techniques.
  • Good communication, listening, and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and cloud-based applications.
  • Works well independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Willingness to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand for 5+ hours of workday.

Education:

 

  • AS/BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related discipline with 6+ months of laboratory experience. Applicants with high school diploma or GED equivalent and lab experience will also be considered.
