Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team on the 2nd shift. The Welding Supervisor is responsible for leading, organizing, and directing daily activities for the Weld Department. This role involves managing a team of welders, ensuring quality control, and training new employees. The current team consists of 10 welders, with plans to grow to 15-20 welders, who will be distributed between two supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate first part checks.
• Train new employees in fitting, welding, and blueprint reading.
• Mentor direct reports, identify areas for improvement, and provide training.
• Conduct reviews, log journal entries, and have one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
• Ensure daily balancing is completed at the beginning of each shift for the previous day.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in MIG welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong communication skills.
• Quality control expertise.
• Fitting and fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of weld symbols.
• Experience with structure, stainless steel, aluminum, and TIG welding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of welding leadership experience.
• 5+ years of MIG welding experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in measuring parts in all dimensions and angles.
• Familiarity with isometric drawings and Solidworks for identifying materials.

Work Environment

You will be working in a large job shop with over 90 employees spread across four buildings on the same campus. The shift hours are from 2pm to 1am, Monday to Thursday, with the possibility of overtime on Fridays. The role requires you to be open to working extra hours during the week and on Saturdays as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leavenworth, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00
