Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tool and Die Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of extrusion tooling, performing precision measurements, and conducting repairs and maintenance on various dies and related tools. If you have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning, and a passion for maintaining high standards, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Nitriding dies, polishing dies, and maintaining all extrusion tooling in good condition.
  • Performing quality checks of extrusions during production runs.
  • Providing accurate quality and performance information for dies to the die shop manager.
  • Correcting dies at the press and in the die shop.
  • Operating hand tools and various machines.
  • Adjusting new dies before running them in production.
  • Performing test extrusions of new or corrected dies, die repair, and providing technical die service and auxiliary support tools such as bolsters and backers.
  • Reading blueprints and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Performing and assisting in preventative maintenance.
  • Reading die drawings and inspecting parts and surface finishes according to customer specifications.
  • Utilizing proper inspection tools and techniques.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in tool and die maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and die drawings.
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience with machining, die setting, and the casting process.
  • Ability to operate mills, grinders, lathes, and micrometers.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic math and measuring skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Schooling in a related field is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Prior experience in extrusion, anodizing, and automated paint lines is a plus.

Work Environment

This position involves participating in production line activities, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting (10-50 lbs frequently). The work environment is a metal manufacturing plant, which can be dirty (with metal shavings and grease in some work cells) and loud (hearing protection is required and provided). The facility houses extrusion equipment that can make the environment hotter than normal. Maintenance roles will occasionally require working near or on this equipment, with attention to safety protocols being paramount.
