Position: School Social Worker

Location: Rochester, MI

Job Summary:

Soliant Education is seeking a passionate and skilled School Social Worker for a full-time position in Rochester, Michigan. This role involves providing mental health support to students and their families, promoting emotional and social development, and collaborating with school staff to ensure students' overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social work practices, child development, and mental health services, along with a passion for helping students succeed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students facing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' social-emotional needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the academic, emotional, and social success of students.
  • Collaborate with school teams to implement and monitor interventions for students with behavioral or emotional issues.
  • Support students in managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges that may impact their learning.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed, offering support during difficult situations.
  • Assist with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide professional development for staff on social-emotional learning, mental health, and student support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and interventions.
  • Educate students and families on available resources, such as munity services and mental health programs.
  • Promote positive school culture through anti-bullying campaigns, mental health awareness initiatives, and social-emotional learning programs.
  • Participate in school meetings, IEP meetings, and other interdisciplinary team meetings to advocate for students and provide insights on social-emotional development.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Michigan State licensure as a School Social Worker or a social work license with eligibility for state certification.
  • Experience working in a school setting or with children and families preferred.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, child development, and social work practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and munication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines for social work practice.
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
