Contracted Special Education Teacher Full-Time Position in Lewistown, PA
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a school in Lewistown, PA on a contract basis for the 2024/2025 school year. This full-time position will involve working with students across various grade levels to provide individualized education and support tailored to their unique needs.
As a contracted Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with a collaborative team to ensure all students have access to an inclusive, supportive, and challenging educational environment. Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education (or a closely related field)
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education
- Prior experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or other special needs (preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to design and implement individualized lesson plans and modify curriculum to meet student needs
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred, but not required)
Position Details:
- Location: Lewistown, PA
- Employment Type: Full-time contract position
- Work Hours: 35-40 hours per week (Monday Friday)
- Grade Level: PreSchool
- Contract Start Date: ASAP
- Contract End Date: June 30, 2025 (for the current school year)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each students specific needs
- Provide direct instruction to students in small groups, 1:1 settings, and within the general education classroom
- Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and other staff members to ensure students have access to appropriate curriculum and resources
- Track and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies and IEP goals as necessary
- Participate in IEP meetings and work collaboratively with parents/guardians to ensure a unified approach to student development
- Implement behavioral strategies and classroom management techniques to support students social and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress reports, assessments, and IEP updates
