About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our school-based team in Malvern, PA. This full-time position will involve working with students across grades K-12, including those within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) population. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy to students, many of whom may exhibit moderate to severe behavioral challenges.

This role requires a dedicated professional who is equipped to manage these challenges with a calm, methodical approach, following established procedures and working closely with teachers and staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students, identifying needs related to communication disorders, speech delays, articulation, language development, and social communication skills.
  • Individualized Therapy: Develop and implement therapy plans for individual students, addressing their specific needs, including nonverbal communication, pragmatic language skills, and social interaction challenges.
  • Behavioral Support: Be prepared to address moderate to severe behaviors, using appropriate strategies and interventions in accordance with school policy and behavior management procedures.
  • IEP Development and Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring that communication goals are met and adjusted as needed.
  • Social Skills Development: Provide therapy that includes working on social language skills, supporting students in developing their ability to interact with peers and adults in a school environment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of assessments, therapy sessions, student progress, and behavioral data, providing regular updates to the school team and families.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support students with ASD, consulting with teachers and behavioral staff on strategies for communication and classroom management.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Pennsylvania State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or significant behavioral challenges.
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and ability to implement them in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a school-based environment, with diverse student needs.

Compensation

  • Pay starts at $40 per hour for fully qualified candidates, with potential for increases based on experience and performance.
