Job Summary:
Responsible for the student government program to include establishment and enforcement of: the constitution; criteria of eligibility for executive branch members and dormitory representatives with conditions for dismissal and replacement; organization and conduct of student government elections; weekly student government meeting, following parliamentary procedures, and organization of student government committees.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Arranges and participates in regularly scheduled student government executive branch meetings with the Center Director and Deputy Director, Social Development.
- Acts as liaison between student government and staff, maintains proper documentation for student government, and provides student government information to the general student population.
- Oversees the student welfare fund.
- Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
- Responsible for the Student Leadership Program to include establishment and implementation of: program guidelines and procedures; maintenance of a current Student leader list; conduct of student leader training for both staff and students; maintenance of student leader files, control of student leadership cards, and determination of monthly awards, e.g., student of the month, and student leader incentives, and provision of student leadership information to students and staff.
- May ensure the proper functioning of the Student Center Council to include: training of board members; supervision and conduct of board members' elections; supervision of the weekly hearings; insurance of proper guidelines being followed by the board members at hearings.
- May supervise the functioning of the dorm councils to include: training of Resident Advisors to act as advisors to the dorm councils; training of students to act as dorm council board members insurance of proper guidelines being followed by the dorm council members at the hearings.
- May establish updates and enforce the guidelines and procedures for the Student Center Council and the Dorm Council program.
- May be responsible for the Honor Dorm Program to include establishment and enforcement of program guidelines and procedures; criteria for eligibility to the Honor Dorm Program; initiation collection and final approval of honor dorm applications; initiation and update of the honor.
- May administer or recommend penalties directly for specified disciplinary infractions as per penalty guidelines for the center; refers students for counseling sessions on disciplinary problems.
- May participate in Evening & Weekend studies programming.
- Work with SGA members in operation of the Student Store/Canteen.
- Involvement in the process of SCA Executive Board Members election.
- Participate in the Centers HEALS programming and the year to year initiatives.
- Prepares and submits monthly activity reports to the Director, or designee.
- Plans and directs community service projects.
- Develops and presents a student government briefing for all orientation student.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in work-related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One year's work-related experience.
Preferred: Minimum, plus Job Corps experience.
Knowledge: Knowledge of parliamentary procedures. Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license. Must possess a valid State driver's license. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Ability to effectively relate to student population. Ability to inspire and motivate students. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Good organizational skills.
Compensation details: 40000-43680 Yearly Salary
