Position Overview:
Soliant Education is looking for a passionate Special Education Teacher for an onsite, full-time position in the Manchester, CT area for the 2024-2025 school year. The role involves supporting 4th and 5th-grade students with a caseload of up to 20 students. Youll provide push-in services and some pull-out support, particularly focusing on the SPIRE reading program, a structured and easy-to-follow scripted intervention. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and collaborative school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide special education services to 4th and 5th-grade students, including push-in and some pull-out support.
- Deliver SPIRE scripted reading lessons, helping students develop critical reading and literacy skills in a structured way.
- Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students on your caseload, ensuring proper acmodations and modifications are in place.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Track and monitor the academic progress of students, adjusting interventions and strategies as necessary.
- Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction to support students academic success.
- Participate in IEP meetings and work with families to ensure all educational and emotional needs of students are being met.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth, both academically and socially.
- Ensure pliance with all federal, state, and district regulations related to special education services and assessments.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education (or related field).
- Valid Special Education certification for the state of Connecticut.
- Previous experience teaching special education, particularly with elementary-aged students, is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with the SPIRE reading program, or a willingness to quickly learn and implement it.
- Strong collaboration skills, working closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families.
- Excellent organizational, munication, and classroom management skills.
- Passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and helping them succeed academically and emotionally.
