Job Description:

The Set Up/Maintenance Plastic Injection Molding Processor is responsible for the efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of plastic injection molding machines and related equipment while processing molds to ensure all production parts meet each customer's quality standards. This role ensures that the production process is optimized to produce high-quality products while minimizing downtime and maintaining a safe working environment. The position also involves collaboration with other departments to ensure alignment with production goals and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup and Operation:

• Prepare and Set Up Machines: Install and remove molds from presses, ensuring correct mold and part numbers per production schedule.

• Process Optimization: Adjust machine settings for optimal performance and product quality, including temperature, pressure, cycle time, and other parameters.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to machine performance, mold conditions, or material inconsistencies.

• Quality Control: Monitor production to ensure consistent quality of output, making necessary adjustments to maintain standards.

• Collaboration: Work closely with Tool Makers, fellow Processors, Quality and Operations Departments to meet production and quality requirements.

Maintenance:

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance on injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment to ensure reliable operation.

• Repair and Troubleshooting: Conduct repairs and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic issues as they arise, minimizing downtime.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.

• Tooling Maintenance: Inspect and maintain molds and tooling to ensure they are in proper working condition.

• Building and Facility Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the facility and related equipment, ensuring overall operational efficiency.

• Training: Assist in training new operators and technicians on machine setup, operation, and safety

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in plastic injection molding or a related field is preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in plastic injection molding setup and maintenance. Experience with specific machinery or processes may be required depending on the company's equipment.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications. Knowledge of injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling maintenance.

• Mechanical Background: Solid mechanical background, with a working knowledge of injection molding presses, robotics, and facility maintenance.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding environment. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
