Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (7-Week Local Contract w/possible extension)

  • Weekly Pay: $30/hour ($1,200/wk)

  • Shift/Schedule: 3pm-11:15pm (including rotating weekends)

Job Summary:
Are you ready to make an impact in a fast-paced healthcare environment? We're seeking a dynamic and skilled Sterile Processing Technician for a 7-week contract position. In this role, you'll ensure that surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use in the operating room and throughout the hospital. You may also serve as the lead or charge person for your shift, taking on key responsibilities while guiding and mentoring other team members. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

  • Certifications:

    • Required: Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)

    • Preferred: Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or Surgical Instrument Specialist Certification (CSIS)

    • BLS (American Heart Association)

  • Experience & Skills:

    • Minimum of 2 years currently in sterilizing instruments, equipment, and supplies

    • Strong ability to follow written and verbal instructions & communication in English

    • Proven ability to lift and move equipment safely

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset

    • A team player with a customer-first attitude

    • Ability to remain calm and composed during stressful situations

    • Demonstrates leadership, accountability, and a collaborative approach to teamwork

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Inspire: Step into a leadership role when needed, serving as the shift lead or charge person and setting the tone for your team.

  • Sterilization Mastery: Take charge of the preparation, sterilization, and care of instruments and equipment, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.

  • Quality Control: Identify, document, and report any issues with equipment or supplies, ensuring timely maintenance and replacements.

  • Efficiency & Safety: Accurately load, monitor, and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Foster strong communication across departments, ensuring timely updates on supply, instrumentation, or equipment concerns.

  • Continuous Growth: Take on more advanced tasks and expand your expertise, contributing to team and departmental success.
