Accounting Clerk

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in Gilroy, California. This role is centered in the financial industry and involves a variety of clerical and accounting functions. You will be part of a team where your skills in reporting, procedures, and accounting functions will be maximized.

Responsibilities:
• Carry out routine and nonroutine clerical duties related to accounting.
• Perform accounting functions in areas such as general accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Process payments and reconcile bank accounts with accuracy.
• Post information and balance general or subsidiary ledgers.
• Compile segments of monthly closings and periodic reporting.
• Resolve issues by contacting other departments and/or outside agencies as needed.
• Perform ad hoc financial and segmentation tasks.
• Maintain accurate customer credit records.
• Ensure efficient processing of customer credit applications.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.• Proficiency in accounting functions and understanding of accounting principles
• Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
• Ability to perform ad hoc financial analyses and tasks
• Capable of executing clerical duties efficiently
• Proven skills in reporting and procedures
• Experience in payment processing
• Ability to reconcile bank accounts and manage subsidiary ledgers
• Familiarity with segmentation and monthly closings
• Problem-solving skills to resolve financial and accounting issues
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field would be advantageous
• Relevant certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) would be a plus.
