Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, ensuring accurate account reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead the implementation of best practices, and analyze complex financial data to support decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger and Month-End Close: Review general ledger account activity and prepare month-end closing journal entries and analyses for assigned accounts.

  • Account Reconciliations: Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.

  • Discrepancy Research: Investigate and correct discrepancies in accounts, ensuring consistency and accuracy across financial records.

  • Collaboration with Teams: Work effectively with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A, and Operations to prepare closing entries and anticipate changes in accounting processes.

  • Process Improvement: Lead the implementation of best practices to simplify, standardize, and scale accounting operations.

  • Financial Analysis: Analyze complex financial reports and records, performing variance analyses to identify trends and material variances.

  • Audit Assistance: Assist with interim and annual audits by providing supporting schedules and working with other departments to gather data and address accounting inquiries.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statement footnotes for bank reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Internal Controls: Assist in documenting accounting processes and internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate complex accounting projects with team members or other departments, ensuring timely completion and effective execution.

  • Special Projects: Participate in system implementations, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public and private sector experience.

  • Licensure: CPA or CPA eligible a plus not a must.

  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills with comfort in managing large datasets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of AS/400 and Sage is a plus.

  • Analytical Skills: Advanced experience in building schedules, processes, reconciliations, and flux analysis.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment while managing tight deadlines.

  • Independence: Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Teamwork: Be a team player, willing to assist colleagues and contribute to team success.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data clearly.
