Speech-Language Pathologist(SLP) Opportunity in Durham, NC

A school district in Durham, NCis committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) to join our team and support students with speech and language needs. As an SLP,you will collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals, including speech-language pathologists assistants (SLPAs), educators, and other specialists, to help students achieve their communication goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and therapy goals.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students in individual and small group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
  • Provide training and support to school staff on speech-language strategies and accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, therapy sessions, and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and provide strategies for home support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team meetings as needed.
  • Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and participate in ongoing professional development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of speech and language therapy plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct therapy sessions with individual and small groups of students.
  • Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist in the development of treatment materials and activities.
  • Support students in improving speech and language skills in areas such as articulation, fluency, voice, language comprehension, and social communication.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
  • Provide updates and communicate with parents as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Required: Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Required: ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and CFs.
  • Required: Experience working with school-aged children, including those with diverse needs (special education, autism, speech/language delays).
  • Preferred: Experience working in a school setting and familiarity with IEPs and school-based services.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping students improve their speech, language, and social skills.
