Job Description

A Material Handler plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials through a facility, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the organization. This position requires a combination of physical agility, attention to detail, and teamwork, making it well-suited for individuals who thrive in dynamic work environments.

Responsibilities

• Properly store materials in designated locations within the warehouse or storage area, ensuring accessibility and organization for efficient retrieval.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and update inventory systems as needed.
• Fulfill orders by accurately picking required items from inventory, packing them securely, and preparing them for shipment or transfer.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move materials within the facility.
• Inspect materials for quality defects, report any issues to appropriate personnel, and ensure only acceptable materials are used in production or shipped to customers.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Work closely with other team members, including warehouse associates, supervisors, and logistics personnel, to coordinate material flow and support operational objectives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings within the material handling function, and actively contribute to implementation efforts.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a fast-paced, repetitive manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
• Experience with pallet jack and wrapping.
• Experience with Scanner gun for labels.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, not repeatedly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar role preferred.
• Proficiency in operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, with appropriate certifications/licenses.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and documentation.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, often in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Work Environment

Our facility operates Monday through Friday with shifts from 5AM to 1:30PM and the possibility of overtime until 3:30PM. We have a commercial printing and packaging company with three departments: printing, finishing, and die-cutting. Our facility is environmentally conscious, producing green and recyclable packaging, and we have about 110 employees on-site, half of whom work in manufacturing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodland, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00
