Maintenance & Lubrication Technician

The Maintenance & Lubrication Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant machines and systems by delivering precise machine lubrication practices. This Technician leads lubrication excellence, ensuring that lubrication best practices are used in routine re-lubrication, lubricant contamination control, machine inspections, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create lubricant specifications for different types of machines.
  • Optimize, implement, and manage lubrication programs.
  • Select lubricant, application method, application amount, and frequency.
  • Identify, prevent, and remediate lubricant contamination.
  • Design, manage, maintain, and use lubricant storage, handling, and dispensing systems.
  • Execute and document planned lubrication activities and lubrication-related tasks.
  • Troubleshoot common lubrication-related procedural and equipment problems.
  • Collect and manage samples for analysis.
  • Review and address oil analysis findings and recommend current and future maintenance actions.
  • Document discrepancies/conditions that require corrective, predictive, or planned maintenance.
  • Recommend equipment modifications to facilitate lubrication, inspection, oil analysis, contamination control, and other improvements.
  • Coordinate inventory and routine ordering of products.
  • Manage key metrics for the lubrication program.
  • Maintain equipment within the program, such as filter carts, refillable/sealable portable lubricant containers, hydraulic reservoirs, etc.
  • Act as the key point of contact for lubrication-related issues.
  • Diagnose problems using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and modify equipment as directed.
  • Follow established requirements for GMP, safety, and other procedures.
  • Respond to operator calls; take appropriate action and follow up.
  • Install new equipment and make major modifications when supplied with instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all types of production equipment, systems, and controls.
  • Operate equipment in the Maintenance Department.
  • Seek assistance from others as needed.
  • Support the Maintenance Planner in developing job plans, including materials, steps, duration, coordination, etc.
  • Assist in ensuring everything is on hand and ready when the job is scheduled to begin.
  • Seek out and recommend equipment and process improvements.
  • Conduct on-the-job training.
  • Assist other technicians as needed.
  • Work with vendors and service suppliers regarding equipment parts and supplies.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide team leadership, directing the work of other maintenance personnel, as assigned.
  • Use human relations and leadership skills to solve non-complex employee relations problems and issues associated with cooperation, team building, job assignments, etc.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Machinery Lubrication Technician or Analyst (MLT or MLA) II or STLE certification.
  • 5+ years of applicable industrial maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge equivalent to two-year Technical School courses in at least one trade.
  • Knowledge of machinery fundamentals, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, switchgear, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of general mechanical fundamentals, such as fits and tolerances.
