Role Summary

The Construction Estimator is responsible for generating precise and competitive bid prices that align with project specifications. This role involves thorough documentation of project scopes and the creation of detailed estimates encompassing labor, materials, equipment, and all associated costs. The Estimator will interpret architectural drawings and specifications, confirm project scopes, write Requests for Information (RFIs), perform quantity take-offs, prepare estimate proposals, and follow up on bids as necessary.

The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive project cost turnover packages and collaborate effectively with sales and project managers to ensure outstanding service. Maintaining cost controls through strong vendor relationships is essential, as is the ability to research and negotiate with potential new vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to ensure a complete understanding of the scope of work, accurately forecasting costs, sizes, and durations.
  • Conduct unit and assembly take-offs from project plans.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of product lines, applications, and relevant industries.
  • Review architectural specifications and drawings, writing timely RFIs as needed.
  • Document, organize, and maintain all project-related information.
  • Manage the bid process to ensure timely submissions.
  • Provide clear communication regarding project awards or potential roadblocks.
  • Deliver complete bid information to Project Managers for awarded projects.
  • Ensure quality control of bids prior to submission.
  • Respond promptly to phone and email communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
  • High School Diploma required; an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer and mathematical skills, capable of performing accurate analyses within deadlines.
  • Dependable, driven, and possessing a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of PlanSwift and Procore Software is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: Starting at $75,000 per year
