We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Associate to join our team at Baton Rouge General. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with registered nurses to provide exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care: Provide personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, feeding, and ambulating, while ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist with Nursing Duties: Support nursing staff with patient duties, such as collecting and transporting specimens, retrieving medications, and assisting with patient admissions and transfers.
- Document Patient Information: Accurately and thoroughly document patient care and medical treatment in patient records, ensuring an accurate record of patient care.
- Clerical and Administrative Tasks: Perform clerical and administrative duties, such as receiving and assisting visitors, tracking lost charges, and maintaining patient care areas.
- Practice Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to safety and infection control procedures, including proper waste removal, maintaining a clean patient care environment, and following BRGMC Safety Policy guidelines.
- Certification or Experience: Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, Basic EMT Certification, Military Medic experience, or Nursing Student with completion of fundamental nursing clinical in RN program.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Safety Practices: Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations and safety practices, including incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps, and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, and environment of care.
The physical demands of this role include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
