Job Description

Breck School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim and Dive Boys Assistant Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing visionary leadership for the Swim and Dive Program, managing the day-to-day operations, and developing individual team members.

The ideal candidate will have three years of experience coaching Swim and Dive at the high school level, with a strong background in effective coaching techniques and skills. They will possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport, as well as excellent organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.

The Swim and Dive Boys Assistant Coach will be responsible for:

  • Managing and supervising athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Using a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Swim and Dive.
  • Coordinating the development and promotion of the Swim and Dive Program across the school community.
  • Ensuring all Swim and Dive coaches work together toward a common goal within the Swim and Dive Program and provide unity across all levels and teams.
  • Establishing performance criteria for competition and evaluating student athletic abilities initially and on an ongoing basis.
  • Developing a regular practice schedule and organizing practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Encouraging sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.
  • Working with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year-round strength and conditioning program.
  • Using the allotted days by the MSHSL in June and July to provide athletes the opportunity to do Swim and Dive specific training.
  • Encouraging and supporting multisport athletes within Breck School.
  • Assisting student athletes with college recruitment.
  • Acting as a team representative and promoting the sport by communicating with news media and other organizations.
  • Participating in special activities to include parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.
  • Attending staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or other appropriate administrator.

The Swim and Dive Boys Assistant Coach will be a key member of our athletic team and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times.
