About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crew Leader to join our team at Lewis Tree Service. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for leading a tight-knit crew and creating a positive team environment. You will interpret tree trimming, removal, and spraying orders, plan and layout daily work, and perform pre-job hazard surveys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of arborists and forestry professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Interpret and execute tree trimming, removal, and spraying orders from General Foremen or customer representatives.
  • Plan and layout daily work for the crew, considering factors such as time required to complete work, equipment availability, and weather conditions.
  • Perform pre-job hazard surveys with crew members and assign work tasks based on individual knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Operate aerial lifts, chainsaws, chippers, and other equipment to perform line clearing and tree trimming duties.
  • Remove limbs and brush, clean up, and dispose of debris.
  • Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area.
  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Two years or more experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, with experience working around utility lines.
  • Ability to lead people, including strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques.
  • Experience in tree climbing, knot tying, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of lines, voltage, and line equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
  • Capable of operating two-handed equipment and withstanding extreme climate variances.
  • Valid driver's license, CDL, and/or medical certificate required for vehicle operation.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR cards.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
