Overview: The selected candidate will play a crucial role in fulfilling the transportation requirements of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska community and the general public, particularly those with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver transportation services to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members and the public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Operate various vehicles, including those equipped with wheelchair lifts and securements, as well as utilize scheduling software and communication devices.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a clean and orderly condition as per organizational policies.
  • Keep accurate monthly records and reports related to transportation services.
  • Collaborate effectively with Ponca Tribe of Nebraska staff to address transportation needs.
  • Adhere to a predetermined route and schedule.
  • Monitor passenger counts using transportation management software.
  • Handle fare collection and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Stay informed and apply new procedures, regulations, and requirements as they arise.
  • Drive safely in various weather conditions.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle.
  • Maintain or achieve certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Complete mandatory training on Passenger Safety Securement, Defensive Driving, Distracted Driving, and Drug & Alcohol Awareness.
  • Comply with drug and alcohol policies and testing protocols.
  • Uphold the confidentiality and privacy of all passengers.
  • Follow all transportation laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Defensive Driving.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with insurability.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol testing and background checks.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Defensive Driving.
  • Experience working with Native American communities or organizations.

Preference will be given to members of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska or other federally recognized tribes. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.
