The Security Investigator is tasked with executing intricate and highly confidential internal and external inquiries aimed at safeguarding both corporate resources and personnel.
This role encompasses investigating financial discrepancies, potential insider threats, threats directed at corporate staff, and possible illicit activities.
The Security Investigator will be instrumental in protecting the individuals, assets, and reputation of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct various forms of security inquiries and interviews (victim, witness, and subject) to support industrial security, personnel security, insider threat assessments, executive protection, and employee misconduct investigations.
- Independently carry out investigations both virtually and on-site by developing, organizing, and implementing effective strategies for interviewing complainants, subjects/suspects, and various types of witnesses, while gathering, documenting, and reviewing factual evidence and records (e.g., surveillance footage, personnel files, public records) to arrive at substantiated findings and conclusions.
- Analyze, correlate, and thoroughly evaluate observed facts and evidence, including interview statements, personnel records, public records, supervisory documentation, use-of-force reviews, surveillance footage, and sensitive records.
- Locate and interview witnesses by engaging with employers, public agencies, families, neighbors, and others; utilizing the internet and information databases (e.g., TLOxp, PACER, DMV records) to complete investigations.
- Establish a dialogue with witnesses and conduct follow-up interviews to gather further information in support of ongoing cases.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all relevant reports, memoranda, and evidence are preserved to support investigations and conclusions.
- May be assigned to conduct background investigations on new employees.
- Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess three (3) or more years of full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer conducting criminal investigations or as a licensed private investigator, or hold a Juris Doctorate degree with at least one year of investigative experience.
Candidates will undergo a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation, which may include a polygraph examination and drug screening.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance is essential.
Confidentiality in handling sensitive information and materials is a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- California BSIS Private Investigator License
- California Concealed Weapons Permit
- Active US Government security clearance
