Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer

About the Role:

The Cardiac Sonographer performs non-invasive diagnostic echocardiographic procedures to support the physician in the diagnosis of heart disease. This role requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to ensure accurate and high-quality results.

Responsibilities:
  • Treat patients, co-workers, physicians, and guests with kindness, care, and courtesy.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior in all working relationships and responsibilities.
  • Support and adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as ICAEL requirements.
  • Attend staff meetings to stay up-to-date with department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records of educational requirements for ICAEL and cardiac registry.
  • Clean and restock the echo procedure room to prepare for each patient, disinfect echo transducers, machine, and bed after each use.
  • Transport patients to and from the department to reduce lags in department schedule and patient wait times.
  • Demonstrate competency to perform duties in a timely and efficient manner to meet team productivity goals.
  • Demonstrate competency to perform various types of Cardiac Sonograms, including Transthoracic Adult, Transesophageal, Stress Echocardiogram, and Contrast Echocardiogram.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) (new graduates have one year from date of graduation to acquire).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatric Echocardiography.
