Job Title: Filmmaking Instructor

EPACENTER seeks a skilled Filmmaking Instructor to teach youth, ages 12-17, pre-production, production, and post-production skills to create short films. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media production, filmmaking, or a related field, and experience working with youth in community arts programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and teach a class syllabus, lesson plans, and visual presentations.
  • Guide and support students in creating short films, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Establish a safe and welcoming classroom environment, fostering connections and collaboration among students.
  • Build relationships with youth participants, families, and EPACENTER staff.
  • Follow health and safety, risk assessment, and youth development goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in media production, filmmaking, or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth in community arts programs.
  • Knowledge of Black Magic and Canon Cameras, audio production equipment, and lighting kits.
  • Professional practice as an exhibiting artist and substantial film industry experience.
  • Two to five years of prior professional teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with positive youth development strategies.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the East Palo Alto and Belle Haven communities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
