Job Title: Filmmaking InstructorEPACENTER seeks a skilled Filmmaking Instructor to teach youth, ages 12-17, pre-production, production, and post-production skills to create short films. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media production, filmmaking, or a related field, and experience working with youth in community arts programs.
Responsibilities:- Develop and teach a class syllabus, lesson plans, and visual presentations.
- Guide and support students in creating short films, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
- Establish a safe and welcoming classroom environment, fostering connections and collaboration among students.
- Build relationships with youth participants, families, and EPACENTER staff.
- Follow health and safety, risk assessment, and youth development goals.
- Bachelor's degree in media production, filmmaking, or a related field.
- Experience working with youth in community arts programs.
- Knowledge of Black Magic and Canon Cameras, audio production equipment, and lighting kits.
- Professional practice as an exhibiting artist and substantial film industry experience.
- Two to five years of prior professional teaching experience.
- Experience with positive youth development strategies.
- Knowledge of and experience working in the East Palo Alto and Belle Haven communities.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
