Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at IDEX, a leading provider of wastewater monitoring equipment and services. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in modernizing our approach to design, development, and testing, with a focus on circuit board layout design and certification processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the transformation of hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions that leap ahead of the competition and solidify our company's stance as an innovative trusted solutions advisor.
  • Provide the electronics engineering design of device circuitry, including researching, designing, and testing of electronic components of the hardware system.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to aid in engineering tasks, including PCB design, layout, and placement of complex multi-layer PCBAs to produce low-cost, low-noise, and high-reliability assemblies.
  • Implement electrical circuits to interface environmental sensors, requiring excitation and signal conditioning, such as DAC, ADC, filters, and sensors like pressure, temperature, and piezo ultrasonics.
  • Conduct electrical component research, support part obsolescence, and supply chain challenges.
  • Utilize a prototype and proof of concept feedback system to rapidly test mechanical, firmware, and electronic component design assumptions in lab and field conditions.
  • Design and fabricate test control apparatus and equipment.
  • Utilize ISO-controlled design and development processes and all required documentation via PLM systems.
  • Execute engineering design reviews and participate in cross-functional stage gate approvals.
  • Develop validation and verification test procedures to confirm product specifications, including simulation and physical testing.
  • Support and execute against an auditable certification process for assurance of product performance in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of professional design experience in schematic and PCB layout design.
  • Soldering and prototype construction experience.
  • Regulatory compliance experience, with intrinsic safety experience preferred.
  • ECAD expertise, with Altium preferred.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory certification processes and standards.
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
