Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perioperative Nurse Specialist to join our team at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with surgical procedures, providing hemostasis and wound exposure, handling tissue, suturing, and applying dressings as needed.
  • Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement patient care plans, prioritizing tasks and responding to emergent situations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, utilizing data to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in surgical procedures, instrumentation, and techniques, staying current with industry developments and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, demonstrating empathy and respect for diverse backgrounds and needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with current registration to practice in the state where work is being performed.
  • Successful completion of RNFA program and internship, meeting AORN's Standards for RN First Assistant Programs criteria.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with CNOR certification maintained as current status.
  • Two years of operating room experience in both scrub and circulating roles as an RN, with expertise in surgical procedures and instrumentation.
