Mammography Technologist Job Description

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mammography Technologist to perform mammographic procedures on in/outpatients according to published department protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiologic technology and mammography, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mammographic procedures with a high standard of accuracy in positioning and technical factors.
  • Review each prescription, history questionnaire, and patient record prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available for radiologist interpretation.
  • Practice universal precautions and aseptic technique to prevent cross contamination.
  • Process images using the PAC system and ensure timely completion and verification of cases.
  • Monitor and resolve exceptions list daily and maintain a responsive and respectful relationship with patients.
  • Assess and respond to patients' physical, sociological, and psychological needs, and explain procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Utilize Cyracom phone for language barriers and maintain knowledge of Vocera.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned work area and radiographic equipment, and communicate efficiently with coordinators, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Perform bone density scans accurately and work in conjunction with Ultrasound to ensure a productive and comprehensive flow of patients through both modalities.
  • Accurately review interventional cases and work knowledge of interventional procedures and protocols.
  • Assist with needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies, and perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammography.
  • ARRT (R) and (M) certification and active state mammography license.
  • BLS certification and completion of accredited course in radiologic technology or mammography.
  • Ability to perform screening and diagnostic mammography, and preferred skills in DEXA and biopsy procedures.
