Job Title: Substance Use Counselor - HUD VASH Program

STGi is seeking a qualified Substance Use Counselor to join our team in the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) Supportive Housing (HUD/VASH) Program.

Job Summary:

The Substance Use Counselor will provide on-going substance use case management and treatment interventions to HUD-VASH participants. The ideal candidate will have experience working with homeless Veterans and their families, and will be able to provide comprehensive treatment plans that address the factors contributing to homelessness.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct intake and needs assessments of homeless Veterans and their families
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans that address substance use disorder and other co-occurring factors
  • Provide individual and group case management, including early interventions and supportive follow-up
  • Collaborate with other service providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Document all contact with Veterans and other providers in a timely and accurate manner
Requirements:
  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or family therapy
  • 1 year of experience providing substance abuse counseling
  • Knowledge of DSM diagnoses, assessment of level of functioning, and evidence-based practices
