Job Summary

Cortica is seeking a highly skilled Area Medical Director - Nurse Practitioner to oversee our growing team in Los Angeles County. As a key member of our medical staff, you will conduct thorough patient intakes, screenings, and assessments, considering the unique needs of each patient and their family.

In this role, you will provide ongoing education to families and work closely with other specialists to offer comprehensive care, including nutrition evaluation, dietary support, and ongoing medical management. You will also collaborate with our cognitive and behavioral child neurologists and pediatricians to provide ongoing care for attention, sleep, headaches, and challenging behavior, medication management as well as medical follow-ups.

As the Area Medical Director, you will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with administrative leaders to support your sites' medical staff across centers in the delivery of care as well as provide direct care to Cortica patients (up to 80%). Your administrative tasks may include support for interviewing candidates, supervising onboarding, training, and clinical care, career mentorship, and participation in clinic team building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete thorough patient intakes, screenings, and assessments that incorporate the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the plan of care.
  • Triage referrals for acute needs to other members of the Cortica team.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive care for each patient.
  • Utilize the nursing process, scientific reasoning, and critical problem-solving to practice within the scope of responsibilities as defined by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Provide ongoing education to families enrolled in our medical program on a diverse set of well-delineated topics.
  • Provide nutrition evaluation and dietary support in concert with our speech and occupational therapy team.
  • Work with our cognitive and behavioral child neurologists and pediatricians to provide ongoing care for attention, sleep, headaches, and challenging behavior, medication management as well as medical follow-ups.

Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable regarding diagnoses and therapies for conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Speech and Language delay, Sensory Processing Disorder, Headaches, Insomnia, Epilepsy, and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses.
  • Minimum of 12 months in pediatric practice in an outpatient setting (pediatric or family nurse practitioner), within behavioral neurology and/or Neurodevelopmental Medicine (NDM) and pediatric behavior disorders, including autism.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing teammates in a medical healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in ADIR/ADOS diagnostic evaluation.
  • Telemedicine skillset, including ability to leverage multiple forms of technology simultaneously in efforts to document while connecting with patients.
  • Current and unrestricted license and/or certification required to practice within your clinical domain and obtain cross-state licensure in new states as indicated by the current business needs.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

The base pay range for this opening is $140,260 to $182,339. According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
